Winners-1-2

And the ClimateLaunchpad winner is …

Cassetex –  a solar-powered battery swapping service for electric 3-wheelers in Bangladesh. But the journey for the participating Swiss teams doesn’t end here, so read on!

Following the Cassetex team’s victory at the ClimateLaunchpad Global Grand Finals on October 2 for their proposal to swap the batteries of one million vehicles with solar-powered versions – and by doing so save 0.47 megatons of CO2 per year. The team stated that this solution will help solve the critical challenges in Bangladesh’s transport sector.

So what's next?

Considering the impact of COVID-19 and that this year’s climate competition was entirely carried out online, the response to the ClimateLaunchpad Global Grand Finals exceeded all expectations. And the 3,000 participants from 56 countries as well as the 68 proposals submitted were a testament to the passion and imagination of this year’s entrepreneurs. But this is not the end of the road for ClimateLaunchpad, the finalists, and our three exceptional Swiss teams that participated in the global challenge.

The top 16 teams selected to pitch at the final round of the Global Grand Finals get the opportunity to access the ‘EIT Climate-KIC Accelerator’, the only EU acceleration program focused on climate impact by clean-tech commercialisation. The program will equip start-ups with the necessary knowledge, resources, tools and coaching they need to succeed, and bring their idea to the next level.

“The EIT Climate Kick accelerator is a proven programme supporting the next steps to business success. Many startups took significant profit out of it during the last years.”

And what happens with the Swiss teams?

Emerging as the winning teams in the Swiss National Finals in July with their innovative ideas, ExoLabs, ShadeMe and MOOST have been working hard on their proposal with additional research and development work. Here’s what they had to say:

“ClimateLaunchpad was a great experience. It is run very professional and elevates your business to the next level. We learned a lot about what really matters to gain traction. We also gained very valuable skills in formulation and pitching our idea.”
