Together, We Innovate, Together, We Thrive: A Celebration of Innovation and Collaboration at Entrepreneurship Week Basel 2024

Entrepreneurship Week Basel, which is organized as part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), took place in late November, energizing the local entrepreneurial ecosystem with fresh inspiration and valuable connections. GEW, celebrated in over 160 countries, is a global initiative dedicated to empowering and connecting entrepreneurs through diverse events, workshops, and activities. In Basel, this dynamic tradition was marked by a week-long program aimed at fostering innovation, collaboration, and the spirit of entrepreneurship.

A Week of Innovation and Learning

The week kicked off with workshops and networking sessions, offering a diverse lineup of 28 events that catered to entrepreneurs at every stage of their journey. Hosted by key players in the local ecosystem—Basel Area Business & InnovationStartup AcademyUniversity of Basel, FlexOffice, Impact Hub BaselTech Park BaselPOWHER, and supported by Vossius and the City of Basel—these events highlighted the collective commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial talent in the region.

As a key partner, Startup Academy invited to its fall networking event under the theme of “Optimal Resource Management – The Key to Success” at the start of the week. The Academy further hosted an open house and workshops on designing effective connections in the workplace, relaxation techniques for well-being and stress management, and mental health strategies tailored for startups. These initiatives emphasized the importance of holistic support in the entrepreneurial journey. Other activities ranged from hands-on sessions on business strategy to insightful discussions about sustainable innovation and a celebrative entrepreneurship night with a prize ceremony.

The Auction

A standout feature of this year’s Entrepreneurship Week was the Startup Auction, an innovative fundraising initiative where businesses presented unique experiences and services to attendees via an online platform. The diverse offerings included exclusive leadership coaching sessions, dance classes, artwork, and team-building events. The auction not only spotlighted the products and services of Basel-based startups, entrepreneurs, and companies but also directed the proceeds towards supporting the organization of the GEW Entrepreneurship Night, coordinated by a dedicated non-profit committee.

Entrepreneurship Night: A Grand Finale

The week culminated in the Entrepreneurship Night, an evening celebrating the achievements and potential of Basel’s entrepreneurial community. Held at Sudhaus Basel, the event brought together startups, investors, and ecosystem partners for a night of networking, storytelling, and inspiration. Speakers shared personal stories of resilience, innovation, and success, inspiring the audience to embrace challenges and think creatively.
